Auto Stem Tapper

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • (25%) Change taps or drills and when necessary, remove, adjust/repair and replace chucks and collets. Checks that bolts and fittings on all machines are kept tight. Perform minor maintenance and repairs on machines.
  • (20%) Ensure that lead or forklift operator keeps machines supplied with Flow mats of castings to be machined. Arrange raw materials, scrap hoppers and finished part flow mats, pans, etc..
  • (20%) Able to run multiple automatic drills/tappers at one time. Maintains entire work area in orderly fashion.
  • (10%) Monitor equipment and inspect finished parts for possibility of broken or missing tap or drill.
  • (10%) Work with supervisor, engineers and maintenance to troubleshoot all equipment in your area.
  • (10%) In addition to these, individual assumes all responsibilities assigned to entry level operator.
  • (5%) Install safety guards and adjust air pressure.


The person in this position must demonstrate the desire and motivation to learn more machine cells as they gain experience. They should be willing to assist and participate in plant programs such as Six Sigma projects, TPI 2000, ISO 9000 ISO 14000. This person should also strive for continuous improvement and share any ideas to improve quality and to help make the department safer, cleaner, and more efficient. Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience Profile

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Required Skills

Technical/Functional Competencies:

  • Must be able to use hand tools such as wrenches, screw drivers, allen wrenches and gauges which are used to identify defective parts.
  • Individual must have the initiative to maintain a satisfactory rate of production on multiple machines and make simple decisions not covered by supervisory instruction.
  • Certified (or able to become certified) as a forklift operator.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
